You can now submit your IRS tax form in your compute.tokenos.ai dashboard. If you run into any issues, submit a ticket at support.tokenos.ai.
Who must submit
Every node operator must submit a tax form, including operators whose nodes were deployed before identity verification was introduced and operators with payouts still owed on earlier node terms. The identity verification exemption for earlier deployments does not cover tax forms. To avoid withholding tax, sign in to your compute.tokenos.ai dashboard and complete your form.
Which form
Under Section 5.3(f) of the Terms:
- US persons submit Form W-9. IRS page: https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-w-9
- Individuals who are not US persons submit Form W-8BEN. IRS page: https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-w-8-ben
- Companies and other entities that are not US persons submit Form W-8BEN-E. IRS page: https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-w-8-ben-e
If you are not sure which form applies to you, ask a local CPA.
Withholding
If you submit the required form, TokenOS does not withhold tax from your payouts, and you are responsible for paying your own taxes. If you do not, your payouts are still sent, but IRS rules require TokenOS to deduct backup withholding tax from them, at the IRS rate of 24% for 2026, and pay it to the IRS. The IRS explains backup withholding at https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/backup-withholding Payouts are not held because a form is missing; the tax is deducted from them. This applies wherever you live, and TokenOS cannot change it or make an exception.
Service fees, not profit
Under Section 4.6 of the Terms, amounts paid to node operators are service fees for compute delivered. They are not profit, dividends, interest or a return on an investment, and node service fees are business income to the operator. Please read the Terms at tokenos.ai/terms.
Tax advice
TokenOS does not provide tax advice or guidance, and support cannot answer questions about the tax reporting requirements of your country. If you have questions about your own tax situation, speak to a local CPA. Operators are responsible for their own taxes.
